| Iran to Resume Iraj Fort excavations |

A team of Iranian archeologists is going to start excavations at Iraj fortress, one of the world's most famous mud-brick monuments. CHTN- Archeologists will conduct stratigraphical studies, determine the boundary of the Sassanid fort and restore the structure. “There are many missing pieces in the history of Iraj fort and we hope further excavations can help piece this puzzle together,” said director of the archeology team, Mohammad Reza Nemati. Earlier excavations yielded a number of earthenware, which showed that the upper strata date back to the Sassanid era. Located in Tehran Province between Pishva and Varamin, Iraj fortress is 12 meters high. |
